"Sword
Steel, silver, niello, lapis lazuli, wood, leather
Turkish, Ottoman period, about 1650-1700
The style of the nielloed silver mounts is typical of Ottoman weapons of this period, although the use of lapis lazuli is rare. The straight European blade suggests that this cavalry weapon was used as a pallasch, or thrusting weapon, carried in addition to the more usual curved saber. Pairs of weapons with straight and curved blades were especially common in eastern Europe."
