"Yoda was first introduced in "The Empire Strikes Back" as an eccentric hermit, a great teacher with extensive knowledge of the Force.  The Prequel Trilogy established him as one of the most powerful Jedi Masters in history and a leader of the Jedi Order.  Though he appears small, frail, and old, Yoda is a master of the Force and lightsaber combat, having had over 900 years to hone his skills."

"When Yoda is first introduced in The Empire Strikes Back, he is portrayed as a wise yet incredibly down-to-Earth former Jedi master.  In Yoda’s first scene alone, he exudes wisdom through quotes such as “Wars not make one great”, all while comically stealing Luke Skywalker’s food.
"Through Yoda’s very strange introduction, he is already teaching Luke various lessons, particularly not to judge a book by its cover.  With that being said, Yoda is the most amazing kind of teacher — someone who can seize every opportunity and moment to teach and drop knowledge. Furthermore, aside from his expert teaching skills, Yoda also understands the importance of connection and failure, two incredibly valuable aspects of life.  For example, in Attack of the Clones, Obi-Wan Kenobi interrupts Yoda’s teaching lesson with the Jedi younglings.  However, through the interruption, Yoda is continually calm and encouraging towards everyone."
