"The pedang is one of the most widespread types of Malay swords. It probably originated in the Palembang realm, but evidence of its use can also be found in the Banjar region and in Lombok, i.e. in the sphere of interest of the Palembang realm. Pedang feature a single-edged and a more or less curved (or rarely straight) blade. Altered European or Indian sabre blades were often used."
