chiselled with ribs and delicately overlaid in gold with minute floral decoration."

armoured foes throughout Asia from the early Middle Ages onwards. This mace has a head formed of six flanges.

The haft is of steel chiselled with reeded flutes and decorated in gold koftgari."

The haft is chiselled with facetted and sprial [SIC] sections, and has traces of gold decoration. Connected to the top

of the haft by chains are 6- and 13-spiked balls. It was probably made for parade rather than military use."
